2018 AGM: Business Meeting and Check-Off Town Hall

Our board and staff are busily preparing for the AGM and Check-Off Town Hall in London ahead of the Canadian Beef Industry Conference this year. You’ll see a new format for 2018, with the business meeting including elections and resolution debates in the morning. In the afternoon, we will have a more interactive session that includes presentations and Q&A with the Agency, as well as with each of the service providers who invest check-off dollars directly into research, market development and promotions, and issues management on behalf of Canadian producers.

The Canadian Beef Check-Off Agency’s AGM is divided into two parts or sessions on August 14, 2018 in London, ON. Each session is open and industry stakeholders are invited to attend one, or both sessions, however we do ask that you register (see below).

The two sessions include:

8am – 12:30pm Business Meeting
The business meeting is the formal, regulatory part of the AGM where elections are held and resolutions are debated. There are updates from the Board Chair and each Committee Chair, as well as the presentation of the Agency’s financial positions. All voting delegates appointed by their organizations must be in attendance for this session to be eligible to vote. This session is generally attended by the voting delegates, key industry leaders and association staff, but is open to all who are interested.

1:15pm – 4:30pm Check-Off Town Hall
This is the more interactive, and educational part of the AGM. The Town Hall acts more as an open forum along with presentations from the Agency, and the organizations responsible for investing check-off dollars into research (Beef Cattle Research Council), marketing (Canada Beef) and Issues Management and Public Engagement (Canadian Cattlemen’s Assoc.). There will be dedicated time at the end of the Town Hall for Q&A, but attendees are encouraged to ask questions throughout the presentations, and engage in open discussions with the panelists. This session is generally attended by those who attend the business meeting, as well as producers from across the country seeking more information on how their check-off dollars are invested, and ask any questions they may have.
